Our Charity and Supporters

Armley Helping Hands is a registered charity supporting older people in Armley & Wortley district of Leeds, West Yorkshire. The charities aim is to provide facilities for the advancement of education, recreation and leisure time activities with a view to improving quality of life and reducing social isolation.
The Charity was established on Monday 5th June 1995, by a steering committee of older people, carers and representatives who work with older people with in the local community. Over the last ten years the charity has developed from a small community group to a well established charity supporting over 1700 older people in the district of Leeds 12.
A key element of the charity work is to reduce social isolation and encourage older people to integrate with the local community. The charity organise several services and activities within the district of Leeds 12, to reduce social isolation and promote independence.

Are based in Armley, and have a catering arm called Boutique. Boutique manage both the Tiled Hall Café and The Gatehouse in Kirkstall (part of Kirkstall Abbey Museum) and are members of BITC. Their ‘Second Nature’ programme states: “Step by step, Logistik is moving towards a deep and lasting behavioural change, educating and engaging colleagues, clients and suppliers alike to think and act responsibly. From reducing waste, pollution and carbon emissions to looking after its workforce and local community, verifiable and sustainable social, economic and environmental practice are core to the Logistik way of life.”
Farnell
Farnell is a world-leading, high service distributor of electronic components supporting millions of engineers and purchasing professionals globally. Its Europe and Asia Pacific headquarters are in Armley, where the company employs 900 people, many from the local area.
Citu
Are the UK's premier eco living property development company and are the landlords of Old School Lofts, formally known as West Leeds High School. This rather lovely building overlooks Charlie Cake Park.
Geldards Coaches
Are one of Armley's oldest family run companies, transporting the people of Leeds here, there and everywhere with their coaches and buses. Over the recent August Bank Holiday they managed to transport well over 30000 festival goers to and from the Carling Festival.
He-Re Lettings (Armley Branch)
Maria and Alexa are the friendly faces that greet new residents to Armley, they happen to be a cracking duo coming up with a whole host of superb arty activities; exhibitions, events and dinner parties make this one lettings agency with a difference.
Leeds Building Society
Leeds Building Society have a branch in Armley and enjoyed last year's calendar so much they decided to help sponsor this shebang! We have been trying to get a whole Leeds Rhino out of them, but have to understand that we are a little less important that winning trophies!

Gladedale
The mill building close to Tescos on the Stanningly road, currently covered in scaffold is called Winker Green Mills and will soon be home to lots of new Armley dwellers.
