Do you remember the Charming Armley Cake Competition?

Well we have been getting a few nudges here at the Tourist Board to ascertain if it will be happening again, especially in the light of the expected bun in the oven in September.

The Lady Mayoress would love to see this quirky little competition become an annual event, and is keen to throw her weight behind it, as much as is possible in the time she has available.

The time constraints to pull together a calendar this year may be a little to much, but we are looking for people who want to get involved in putting the Charming Armley Cake Competition on the map for a second year running.  If we get cake crew together it need not be an onerous task.

Do you feel like helping out? We suggest a lovely social on the 20th August (7ish) at a yet to be determined venue to ascertain expressions of interest, and who can do what etc.  What say you? Want to see it happen again? Fancy hearing more?

We are thinking as we put the date in the calendar of the 4th October we may well stick to it!

It's no shaggy sheep story; the Wool Shop reopens under new owners

Sue and John took one look at the Wool Shop on Whingate Junction and decided that it had immense potential, especially as knitting, thrift, make do & mend is so NOW! So they decided to carry on the long tradition from Shirley and her sisters. Which is a relief indeed, to the the many knitters in Armley and beyond who frequented the shop for over 40 years.

So why not pop in and say hello to them? They have some great ideas and lots of enthusiasm and passion for yarns and knitting. They also hear great stuff about the Armley community and are keen to get involved with stuff.

Open Tuesday to Saturday 10-5pm.

Big Bush required

An appeal for help has reached the ears of the Lady Mayoress.
Fabulous photographer Casey Orr has hit a snag and is hoping you may be able to help her....
Do you live in Armley? Yes? Do you have any roses in bloom, or just going over?
Is your bush really bushy, and full of blooms?
Is it quite tall?
If you have this perfect rose bush could Casey and her model come and photograph it?
