Ready, Set, Bake!

COMPETITION LAUNCHED TO FIND BEST BAKERS IN LEEDS – WINNERS TO FEATURE IN CHARITY CALENDAR

We had a stunning 82 entries from across Leeds on Saturday 6th October, the 11 judges were full to bursting by the time they had chewed, cogitated and decided which to were the best 12!

Overall winner was Dean Spurden's classic Victoria Sponge which won due to the perfect marriage of taste, texture and appearance! Well done Dean.

Another favourite, although competition was intense, is this cake (above) by John Ford of the famous building on the Stanningley road known to us all; Mike's Carpets, winning the 'Weird and Wonderful' Category. We will soon be updating the website  with images of all the cakes entered keep checking back.

Put the 6th November in your diary for the launch of the calendar at the Tiled Hall Cafe in Leeds Art Gallery from 6pm on!

The Charming Armley Cake Calendar will raise funds for Armley Helping Hands, a local charity (registered 1076692) which supports older people in the area.  The competition is another giddy confection organised by the  The Armley Tourist Board; a group of volunteers from the LS12 area who all have a passion for the unique character of Armley and a desire to bring people together from across the community.
